Plex Media Scanner process constant high CPU usage on Windows 10

The title says it all, and I’ve found several other threads that say much the same from over the years. Most of them say that by looking at the logs you can find that the media scanner is getting hung up on one media file in your library. What I’m stuck on is that I have not found an example of what to look for in the log files. I can supply my logs for tech support, but I’d rather learn how to fix the problem myself. Teach a man to fish!

There are a bunch of “Plex Media Scanner*.log” files mostly filled with DEBUG messages. What should I look for in my situation? Or do I just need to submit my logs?

Does this happens after updating from a really old version of Plex server
or after adding a lot of music to Plex?
If so, it might be normal until the loudness analysis has been finished.

This has been happening since I installed Plex a few weeks ago and as far as I know there have been no updates to Plex in that time frame, at least I have not installed any updates to Plex since the original install. I have not added any music to Plex, just ripped a few TV seasons from some old DVDs, added some standup comedy videos I got from Humble Bundle, and DVR’ed a few TV shows from my new HDHomeRun. There are a couple of the comedy videos that are basically exclusive extras that don’t have metadata associated from any of the available services, so potentially the media scanner may be getting hung up on those. The ripped DVDs are The Prisoner, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Twin Peaks, and a few seasons of The Simpsons. All of the ripped shows appear to have the appropriate metadata associated with them.

I’d say that using settings/help Download Logs and attaching the resulting file is a good place to start. Once the Plexperts here diagnose the problem you can try to understand what they point you toward.

Oh: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.”

Here are some fresh logs. I just killed the Plex Media Scanner process manually via Task Manager before exporting the logs.

The last file where deep analysis was performed on, was
I:\Video\TV\Bob's Burgers (2011)\Season 07\Bob's Burgers (2011) - S07E01 - Flu-ouise.ts

The last file scanned was
I:\Video\TV\Star Trek Discovery\Star.Trek.Discovery.S01E13.mkv

it could be these or some file in proximity which causes trouble.

I’d temporarily remove the files for these particular seasons (or the whole shows) and then trigger another library scan.
