Plex Media Scanner process crashing

Server Version#: 1.19.1.2701

I see following error in windows event log:

I believe I can make the problem happen on demand by running this command:

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plex Media Scanner.exe” --analyze-loudness --force --item 166186 --log-file-suffix " Deep Analysis"

The files being analyzed are M4A. Any ideas? I am able to play the files in question just fine. I just like to clean up these crashes. It seems to happen on other deep analysis of music M4A files.

The deep analysis log ends with these messages:

Sounds like a corrupt file…

I did find one corrupt file in the directory being deep analyzed. I am not sure yet if that resolved the issue.

I did clean one M3A file that would not play in the directory in question but the plex_scanner.exe still takes an error.

I went back and took another look. There was indeed more than one corrupted file in the directory. ITUNES has been really awful of late downloading purchases. They seem to work but it sometimes fails and leaves some sort of “placeholder” to ITUNES MUSIC instead of a M4A file. So thx for the reply. I’ll have to check the plex logs more closely and see if there are other files in this state.

download a copy of ffmpeg and run this on any file you think is bad.

ffmpeg.exe -v error -i "TheFileToCheck.ext" -f null -
