Sorry but I do not know how to run commands in Synolgy NAS or UNIX.
I was able to get this
I removed the folder and file Trading Places (1983) and the PMS still on the scanning mode. Now it is stating
Library scan complete: Extra information may still be downloading from the Internet
it gives me this message every 30 seconds
unfortunately NAS users need to have knowledge of Linux to troubleshoot problems, Otherwise should stick to windows or mac
Do you have any other software /. machines that are accessing that directory structure ?
You would need to display hidden files/directories as well
May be some hidden files are being created
I have a second Synolgy Server that has access to this library. I also have 2 Zappiti 4K HDR players but they are power down. I do not know how to show hidden files in Synolgy NAS.
it is late here in Florida. I will ask Synolgy support tomorrow about troubleshooting this server.
I have been thinking about this for a while.
Is the Synology Indexing service active and running on these directories?
If so, it will write files. Those writes, inside the @eaDir directories (hidden by Synology’s UI) will trigger kernel events and cause PMS to scan everything, realize nothing new was added and stop unless another “modified” event is triggered by the kernel before completion.
Greetings!
Both of my Synology NAS are constantly using CPU power at about 30% even when I disable the PMS. They are using CPU power to scan libraries but I disabled all the scanning for metadata functions. How can I stop PMS from scanning? I think that the only way I can get scanning disabled is stopping the PMS in the Synology Package Center.

Thanks for your private message looking for a solution.
My suggested line of investigation remains as before as outlined here Plex Media Server 1.15.6.1079-78232c603-x86_64.spk constant scanning - #24 by sa2000
You answered saying you do not know how to get to the linux command line on the Synology NAS
We need to overcome this obstacle to continue.
It is my personal belief that NAS should only be used to run applications (as opposed to being a file server) if the user is proficient in or has sufficient linux skills to troubleshoot
I can send you alpha release 1.16,2 which has a fix for slow scanning when partial scanning is done and would improve the performance significantly - but that would not address the cause of the scans triggering. I and chuck has suspicion that it is the @eaDir triggering it - but need evidence to confirm that - hence the need for periodic list directory showing time last modified
I just googled @eaDir and synology and came across this - How to Find and Remove @eaDir Directories on Synology NAS | Flynsarmy which mentions these applications on Synology running - you can see if you have these MediaServer or PhotoStation package - not sure what mediaserver package that would be
If we prove it is these then we can follow up to see why Plex Media Server is not ignoring - may be we do ignore the directories but not the notification which is coming on the parent directory
