Plex media server app damaged

Server Version#:2.58.0.1076
Player Version#:

I have dl’d and unzipped Plex Media Server and when I try to run it, it says it’s damaged and I need to trash it. I’ve deleted it and redownloaded it several times with the same result. I’m running an iMac 21.5 2014 with Big Sur 11.6.5 Thanks for any help.

What are your steps after you have unzipped it. Are you opening the app directly from the download folder?

Make sure you drag and drop the server app into the Applications folder. Open Plex server from there inside the Apps folder. It should prompt you to open it.

If you have to, reboot the Mac, and try again. It could be something system related that’s not Plex’s fault.

I just tried it on my 2012 Mac mini and it installed just fine.

I rebooted my mac and opened it directly from the Applications folder. Same result.

This isn’t a Plex Media Server version number. Where are you seeing that number?

It looks like the Plex Media Player app version number which we stopped developing and has not received an update in a couple of years.

I found it in the zip file name. How do I find the version if I can’t load it?

I keep trying to run it and now it won’t open because it can’t be verified by the app store or something.

right click or control+click on it and choose open.
