Plex Media Server closes when DVR recording finishes

Since I enabled the DVR ‘remove commercials’ feature I noticed that my Plex Media Server just crashes and closes when the DVR recording finishes. So I started testing some things out and disabled the ‘remove commercials’ feature and put it back to previous state on settings. Still crashes right on the moment of a DVR recording finishing. I’m currently running the Server on a desktop Win 10 Pro x64, 16GB RAM, i5 quadcore 3.5Ghz.

Tuner is just standard HD HomeRun Prime.

Plex Media Server version - 1.11.0.4666-fc63598ba

I’ve been running Plex for about 2 years now without a single issue until now. Is anyone else having this issue or has had this issue? I can get logs as well if needed. Thank you anyone for the time and help :slight_smile:

Just found some other posts after some more digging and found that some had to go all the way back to 1.10.1.4561 for things to work again. I just downgraded to 1.10.1.4561

Same results - doesn’t matter which version of PMS running/installed. Since you have the same issues as I - I think this is a problem with the PMS release and not my specific setup/server.

Anyone else? Anyone have a workaround or fix?

Agreed- I ended up moving my DVR recording duties back to my NAS. It’s been rock solid since.

There’s a server service application (3rd party) that monitors and restarts Plex if it dies- I installed that for the moment.

Not real happy with Plex at the moment given all the issues.

Appears it happens when more then 1 DVR recordings are happening. I’ve got the standard HDHomeRun Prime 3 digital tuner. Never did this before the latest upgrades to Plex.

Anyone have any tips?

I’ve found the issue and its now fixed. DrEverett - I had to delete everything in these 2 locations:

\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support
\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins

its seriously sucked because I had to rebuild everything since that erased all my metadata in Plex so it had to re-download everything for Plex. I found that both of those directories had some form of corruption in them.

I also then downgraded to Plex version - 1.9.2.4285

My HD Homerun Prime now works perfect. No Plex Crash, No DVR issues, No problems at all. Everything works perfect again. I hope this helps others.
