Thanks for sending the database. I have identified the albums that were causing the crashes - As you found out, disabling scheduled tasks loudness analysis avoids the crashes.
Version 1.30.2 of Plex Media Server will have the fix for the crash and it is expected to be released to beta this week
Hey there guys & @sa2000. I just wanted to know if the new beta version (1.30.1.6562) fixes the loudness analysis issue too or not? Because I would like to switch back to the beta branch, but of course not if my server keeps on crashing.
Can I install the latest beta version again or do I need to wait until v1.30.2.XXXX comes out?
The fix for the scheduled tasks loudness analysis that I made available in the 1.30.2.6492 alpha build has now been back ported into the 1.30.1 beta - in build 1.30.1.6562-915986d62
(Analysis) Loudness analysis could crash if item was removed
Anyone getting the crashes, please switch to the new beta. If you were running on the 1.30.2.6492 alpha you will need to go through downgrade steps - on windows that would be to go through Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the alpha and then install the beta from Media Server Downloads | Plex Media Server for Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and More
Alternatively you can stay with 1.30.2 alpha until a new 1.30.2 build is released to beta - expected this week
Installed 1.30.2, added Music Library/Folder back and canāt get through initial scan, keeps locking up. Itās only about 10% through initial scan in 2 days. Itās actually never been this bad. I guess iāll suffer through it so I can send logs. I have to get this fixed.
Sadly I have to add that latest beta v1.30.2 is still crashing my server upon music analysis tasks @sa2000. It still crashes if I add a lot of music and music analysis tasks are triggered. It doesnāt crash as often as previously, but it still does.
Anything I can provide you to have this looked into?
Will need debug logging enabled and server logs zip captured soon after one of these crashes - i can then identify any specific files to look for relating to the crash. Would probably be of benefit if I also get zip of the database captured as well.
Will need to establish if it is a crash or a lock up. A lock up would be when the process still shows in the WIndows Task Manager or MacOS Activity Monitor or on linux in ps list of running processes.
Either way would need to be running with debug logging enabled (it is the default) and capture logs after one of these crashes / lockouts.
If the crashes follow massive climb in memory usage for the process, wait for the fix which will be coming out shortly in an update to the latest Plex Media Server beta - the release after 1.31.3.6819-2ef591a4c. The problem was arising when scanning TV Shows libraries with some specific naming
If it is not to do with memory usage, then would initially need debug server logs and if a minidump is generated by Plex Media Server crash detection, then it gets copies to $TMPDIR (%TEMP% for windows) and should be looked for (will have .dmp filename extension) and zipped and sent to me by private message - logs zip can be uploaded in the forum thread
