Plex Media Server Crashing every few minuets after past version 1.19.4.2935-79e214ead

Server Version#: All versions past 1.19.4.2935-79e214ead (currently have 1.21.1.3876 installed)
Player Version#: Server issue

This started happening the first time I updated past 1.19.4.2935-79e214ead. I have downgraded back to 1.19.4.2935-79e214ead since then.

I’m now wanting to try to get to the bottom of the issue but am unable to make sense of the logs to understand why it’s crashing.

Uploading: com.plexapp.agents.fanarttv.log… Plex Media Server Logs_2021-01-09_05-20-52.zip (725.6 KB)

And now I can’t seems to downgrade it anymore  really need to get to the bottom of it

Is this server on a VPS somewhere?

Yes. I have a VPS I rent that the server is hosted on

From what I can see:

  1. One crash was caused when the internet connection dropped mid-exchange with Plex.tv (which is highly unusual… I’ve never seen that happen before.

  2. There are socket TLS/SSL issues on the host. (Length = -1 is an error)

I would reach out to VPS provider and verify the OS is up to date.

As for your staying at 1.19.4, have you considered advancing beyond those versions and trying 1.21.1 ?

I suggest this as one method of isolating whether it is unique to PMS version or the host.

I had tried updating previously to see if newer versions had fixed it but every time the issue kept happening until I downgraded back to 1.19.4. That includes today when I upgraded to 1.21.1. I can confirm I tried 1.20.5, 1.20.2, 1.20.1, and 1.19.5

I got it running for about 30 minutes after uninstalling plexmediaserver and then reinstalling but after trying to download logs again it crashed when trying to generate them and is now back to crashing every minute.

Here are the logs I got after it came back up from that crash Plex Media Server Logs_2021-01-09_06-36-58.zip (1.3 MB)

I’ll try reinstalling again and see if that stabilizes it again.

As for OS version I am still on Debian 9.13 so I’ll try updating to 10.7 and see if that helps as well
