Same issue here with the same error in the Application Event log.
Appears to have started after a Plex Media Server update that also updated Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) on 03/25/22. No other updates or changes were made to the server at the time and the errors began within hours of the installed updates. Some quick googling shows that ucrtbase.dll is part of Visual C++.

OS: Windows Server 2012 R2
Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) 14.24.28127.4
Plex Media Server 1.25.8.5663

EDIT: Other threads reporting the same issue on various OS’s. Plex team responded that the devs are looking into it.

Everything you all just said… same exact problem… just wanted to add my voice to the mix. This started IMMEDIATELY after the last update.

Adding my voice to the choir, having to reboot Plex Media Server every morning has become part of the new daiy routine :frowning:

I assume everyone having this issue is using PMS to record shows/movies. I’m having the same issue. I’ve been monitoring it, and every time it happens is right after one of the commercial skipper tasks ends. I’m using 2, 4 tuner HD Homerun, 1 is the Connect Quatro, the other is the Connect 4k. My PMS is running on at Windows 10 (21H2). The recordings appear to complete normally, but the episode never gets transferred from the .grab folder to the show folder. It all started with the public update before 1.25.8.5663.

A fix has now been released for Plex Media Server crashes with 0xc0000409 exception in ucrtbase.dll in the 1.25.9 beta

The release 1.25.9.5721 made available yesterday

Release Notes:

  • Fix for Window related EventSource crashes (#13437)

After 2 years of flawless operation, I have been having problems with my PMS for the last several weeks. I’m running a desktop version (including live TV/DVR) on a Windows 8.1 computer. My server started closing down at various times several weeks ago. While that hasn’t happened in the last several days, the performance of my computer is very laggy because the PMS is using lots of CPU resources. Tracking with task manager, the CPU resources constantly fluctuate between less than 1% to more than 90% of CPU resources. The fluctuation is constant - I’d say a couple of time per minute. I’ll attach a log file that I created several days ago when I restarted Plex after the last time the PMS crashed. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you for the logs. I have located the uploaded crash report for the crash that happened on Apr 05, 2022 at 02:01:06 am

I have referred this to the development team

4 days since installing the 1.25.9.5721 that addresses this issue and have had NO crashes. Working great so far.

Still crashing for me,

I am investigating one crash at the moment on 1.29.5721. The crash report I have are not showing the stack correctly - could you make the registry edits outlined here
Crash Logs: Plex Media Server | Plex Support
and make sure there is a CrashDumps folder created here
%LocalAppData%\CrashDumps
and Ppease ensuer debug server logging is enabled and reboot windows after making the registry edit and restart Plex Media Server after enabling the debug logging (https://support.plex.tv/articles/201643703-reporting-issues-with-plex-media-server/)

and on next crash please look for a dmo file in %LocalAppData%\CrashDumps and zip the dmp file and send it to me by Private Message (may need to upload it to dropbox/google drive etc if too big to attach) and get the server logs zip file

Thanks

I have a development build with a potential fix for the crashes that you have had and continued on 1.25.9.5721

I will send you a private message with a download link - please could you try this build and let me know if there are any issues or further crashes - in such case debug server logs andn crash dump if you have it captured

Thanks

The fix for the crashes in development builds mentioned above has now been released in Plex Media Server beta release 1.26.1.5762-912e6f050

See Release Note

  • (HttpClient) Plex Media Server could exit unexpectedly after HTTP requests completed with certain timing conditions (#13489)

@sa2000 - is there any chance that would fix Out of Memory (>4GB) during "Butler" tasks please?

The crashes fix is unrelated to the high memory usage issue

Ok thanks - is there any way to get help with my issue please?

I have responded to your post in that thread
