I’m running Plex Media Server on a new Apple Mac Mini M1. It runs great through Rosetta. But, it crashes periodically and i am uncertain as to why. I’ve attached my logs for reference (I am doing this JUST after a recent restart of the PMS post crash).
I’m aware it may be the M1 (and I will be glad when there’s a native PMS to support Android) but if it’s not, I’d love to figure out how to fix it. I have an applescript running on login that reconnects network drives, like my NAS which has my Plex library on it, when they disconnect but the same script doesn’t seem to work for restarting the PMS when it bombs.
I believe the issue is folks scanning/attempting to hack your server.
My Mac server (mac mini 2018, macOS 10.16.8) is running PMS and nothing else. I’m sharing my library with friends on the internet.
I would see PMS crash out every few days (machine would still be up). I tried to setup launchd to relaunch it - nothing would keep it running.
Ever since i installed a UniFi and turned on aggressive (blocking most countries IPs) and active security (stop anything that looks weird without asking me then let me know what got blocked after the fact), I’ve seen an average of 1.5 hack attempts per day on port 32400.
I saw a hack attempt blocked and logged minutes after installing it.
Its been two months since installing my UDM-Pro, and PMS has crashed once in those two months.
I suggest you get more active with your internet security and see if anything changes.
