Plex Media Server Crashing on MacOS Monterey

Plex Media Server crashes during or after live tv recordings several times each day. This started occurring a few weeks ago either from a recent Plex Media Server version or upgrade to Mac OS Monterey. Prior to having Plex Live TV, never had issues with server crashes on this computer. Debug log attached.

Plex Media Server for Mac: 1.25.7.5604-980a13e02
MacOS Monterey: Version 12.2.1
Mac mini (2018)
Processor: 3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

Tuner: HDHomeRun FLEX 4K

Crash Logs

No files existed in these sub folders:
1.25.7.5604-980a13e02 > PLEX MEDIA SERVER
1.25.7.5604-980a13e02 > PLEX TUNER SERVICE

Checking back on this issue to see if anyone can please assist. Getting multiple crashes daily during live stream, during recordings and after recordings. Thanks in advance.

I have not updated to Monterey as yet, big Sur is working fine.

I would roll back a version or two.

Thanks for your response but Monterey has been available for 4 months so would prefer that Plex addresses the potential problem.

Who said I didn’t ? I’m still waiting for the all clear…

Try turning off commercial detection.

This is in Plex Media Server.1.log immediately prior to the crash (at least on 3/11, /12, & /13):

It seems to line up with this thread, where the ad detector is crashing: Plex crashing while watching.

Thanks @FordGuy61. I’ve disabled DETECT COMMERCIALS in the DVR settings. I’ll monitor and update this post accordingly.

And for each scheduled recording, I’ve changed the detect commercials feature to use DVR settings.

For the past 3 days, no crashes after disabling commercial detection. Is there a way to report bug issues other than this forum?

Plex is aware of the problem. Notice on the thread I linked that a team member is involved.

You may want to monitor that thread for updates. Scroll to the bottom, change Normal to Watching, and you’ll be notified of any new posts to that thread.
