Plex Media Server crashing when start update libraries (reproducable)

Server Version: 1.20.2.3402 Running paid Plex Pass server on Windows 10. Where to go next?

Hallo … anybody at home? Can I expect support after 2 days? Thanks, Frank.

Could you provide the steps on how to reproduce the issue and then also provide the server logs (after you have reproduced it on your side).

To get the logs go to Settings -> Troubleshooting -> Download logs and you can upload them here.

I right click plex in the Windows tray and select “Update Libraries” to reproduce the crash. But it also happens in background. You will find the logs attached. Many thanks for help.Plex Media Server Logs_2020-10-13_11-03-28.zip (1.1 MB)

Can you please help? Anything in the logs? I can’t use my Plex Pass as expected right now. Thanks, Frank.

Sorry for the delay, looks like your crash dumps never made it to our crash reporting server, could you grab these for me?

They should be in this folder: C:\Users\frank\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Crash Reports\1.20.2.3402-0fec14d92 - just zip that entire folder up (or just grab one of the dmp files from inside there if it’s too big).

Thanks!

It looks like there is an image (or images) in this folder: D:\Dokumente\privat\Pfennig\2020\Pfennig-Webbilder-2\ which is causing the crash. There are some TIF formats that are known to not play nicely with the library we use for image processing (FreeImage). The only real solution for now is to just remove the offending file from that directory.

It would be great if you figure out exactly which file it is to send me a sample if possible so I can try and reproduce the issue on my end.

It looks like you are right. I’ve removed the TIFs from the folder and it seems to be working now. I’ve tried to attach the TIFs for any further investigations, but seems to be too large - sorry for this. But many many thanks for help. Btw. can I expect to view such images in 4K on a 4K device (Sony Android TV in this case)? Currently it always looks like plain HD only. Any specific settings to fix this?
