Uninstall Plex media server… then install version 1.20.1.3252… start Plex media server… then you can uninstall and install the newest version and crashs will stop… did it and worked for me…
You need to install an older version, the latest releases is crashing when an android device is connecting to the server…
I’m on version PlexMediaServer-1.21.0.3711 and it’s working.
I was having the same issue every time I connected to my win10 Plex server from the plex app on my chrometv. Rolling back to 1.21.0.3711 as @MackanMask recommended worked for me. thanks!
@Plex support: is this a known issue? Any idea when the updates will address it?
I’m on the latest - Version 1.21.2.3943
Crashed on me 3 times in one hour last night. I go in, remove everything from the task manager, restart Plex, and within 30-45 minutes it’s crashed again. I can sometimes go 2-3 days or 2-3 hours before it crashes.
Plex is crashing on me all the time now when I use an Android client.
I downloaded the suggested older version (1.21.0.3711) but it won’t install over the top of a newer version, and I’m worried about uninstalling PMS as I have 30TB in media and I do not want to have it regenerate the video thumbnails etc.
I really just want a fixed new version please Plex!
So i have now had 3711 reinstalled for 3 days and the plex application uptime is almost to 72 hours without a crash. The longest I would go on 3943 was maybe a day.
No doubt about it, the most recent versions are crashing due to android playback.
So this was first brought to everyone’s attention on Dec 10 2020. It is now 2/3/2021. another week and we’re looking at 2 months without even an acknowledgement from the admins.
I’ve started having the same issues the last couple of days its crashing at least 5 times a day,in the systems tray the pms icon is there and when i pull the cursor over it it disappears and then i have to restart plex.
