I could not update the Plex Media Server on my Nvidia Shield (Pro version 2015) for months now. Another update is available but the installation process from the Google Play Store keeps stalling as always and eventually the Shield stops responding to my remote control. All other apps on Shield update regularly with no issue whatsoever.
Yesterday I also found out that after the new PMS update I cannot access my Plex library from my pc anymore (updating the server version is compulsory), so my PMS has become totally useless since I was already unable to access it from my Shield Plex client. Today I tried to manually install the updated version of the PMS with its apk on Shield, but the installation stalled again right before the end.
Very frustrating indeed and unfortunately that’s becoming more and more often a familiar feeling when dealing with Plex and the Shield too. I love both but I’m starting to spend more time trying to fix them than actually using them and that’s definitely not good for something that should be about entertainment.
I wonder if there is anything else I could try to update the PMS. I guess deleting all the app data and cache might work, but I’d really like to keep my Plex database intact, instead of building it again from zero. I have already done that a couple of times in the past and I’d rather avoid doing it once again.
