Hello, Today I am trying to create a new Plex media server using a Mac Mini running Mojave. I’ve downloaded the “Media Server For Mac” file and verified the check sum. When I open the .app file to begin the installation, i get the ““Plex Media Server.app” can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed” I went into the "System Preferences → "Security & Privacy → “General” and clicked the “open anyway” button. When I do that I get the error “The operation couldn’t be completed (OSStatus error 99999.)” I downloaded the file in Safari then Chrome on 2 different computers both with the same results. I validated the checksum both times. I attempted to run the installer on my macbook pro with the exact same results. Could there be a problem with the installer file?
What version Mac mini and mac pro do you have? would they happen to be the versions with the new M1 chips?
Mac Mini 2012 with Mojave installed. 13" MBPro 2018 also with Mojave. I’m updating homebrew and will try to install that way unless there is a better idea. All Intel.
I may have fixed it with this command:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Plex\ Media\ Server.app/
