Plex Media Server issue after updating! @ChuckPa

@ChuckPa

I have talked to @sa2000 & he reffered me to you i have problem with my plex server that can not be reached somehow after i update the beta version from your website
@sa2000 says that my binaries folder looks wrong

/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/plexmediaserver/binaries

and that you could me help through it with teamviewer I would really appreciate the help
just let me know when you can help me through this

My plex won’t start up it’s completely broken

I always get this message when i want to start it up from my NAS

So… what exactly did you do to upgrade your server.
On what model of WD NAS with what version of their OS are you experiencing this?

The release mentioned in the WD admin interface is ancient… PMS 1.20.4 was released in October 2020

@tom80H I upgraded with this version Beta Release: v.1.41.6.9606-aa6577194

the one pic that i used above happend to me before a few years ago & I have that same mistake now

I am using WD EX2 Ultra OS 5

it would really appreciate if someone can help me I heard from @sa2000 that @ChuckPa is pretty expercienced with these problems but if you can help me aswell through teamviewer or AnyDesk I would really appreicate it cause i have tried everything that i need to do to make it work again

if the 1st screenshot is from a previous occurrence of this issue…
what’s showing on the app page in the WD admin interface now, e.g. is the server listed to be running?
Are you able to get any logs from the system?
As PMS doesn’t seem to be accessible via its web frontend… you could check out the server data directory for a Logs folder and zip that.

the server isn’t running at all it only says page not found when i click on config it immediatly goes to that page saying that.

do you have time to check it out for me on teamviewer or anydesk?

I only wanted to understand what’s showing on the page – e.g. if WD recognizes you had installed the new version or if it’s still listing an older one.
Also… what URL is it trying to open if you click Configure? http://[WD NAS IP]:32400/web or something else?

Any chance you can get those logs?

Sorry, I don’t.

I messaged you back via PM

Hi there @ChuckPa. Did you get a resolution with Bizzy-G?

I am having the exact same problem as seen in the screenshots above after updating the Plex server app on my EX2 Ultra.

When I press ‘configure’ the Plex app in the WD menu, the page that the app is trying to reach is at http://192.168.X.XX/plexmediaserver/index.php but returns not found / The requested URL was not found on this server.

Just installed latest Beta for EX2 Ultra but no joy. I have tried numerous versions and restarts of EX2 and router … am baffled! I am accessing the EX2 from a Mac or iPhone.

No idea how to check any hidden files and folders on the EX2.

I am in UK .. hope you can help!?

@Moggsterlondon @ChuckPa figured it out for me it seems that your plex binaries are corrupted after the update I advice you not to install the beta version anymore cause they not good yet so always stick with the orginal version but once your able to contact @ChuckPa he will make a full back-up of your server & put everything back the way it was before.

@Bizzy-G

The above link doesn’t exist.

ohh I thought it did
but I wrote this to you

Hi @ChuckPa I have another problem
for some reason I can not go or login into my MyCloud Server since yesterday
it give me internal server error message
I can still go into plex though but my question is can I still plug out the NAS for me to use plex again? while my NAS has been rebooted or will I also not be able to get into plex anymore since my plex has the same ip adress as my MyCloud server cause once i have done that cause I dont want to lose my whole server again.

so can you let me know what I need to do?

greetings

Bizzy G

@Bizzy-G

Looks like you need the full URL: http://192.168.0.110:32400/web

If you don’t specify the port, it will look for the device’s web server on port 80

so can i plug out the nas for plex to work again?
or do you think it’s still unsafe to do I havent checked if it will work again after I plug out the NAS cause as of now I can’t even go on my Mycloud which is very frustrating

Please explain . You can write in your native language if you wish :slight_smile:
( I’m fluent in Google Translate – LOL . I also still remember some and some German – I’ll get by)

LOL hahahah normally when I go to http://192.168.0.110/ it goes directly to my Mycloud device menu but now it says it got a server error. the thing is I can still use plex which is good but I can’t be able to go to my Mycloud anymore so I don’t know if I need to plug out the Nas for it to work again but I am afraid it might not recognize plex anymore if I do that since it has the same Ip Adress as my Mycould Server.

but do you think it’s safe to plug it out so that plex can recognize the full URL: http://192.168.0.110:32400/web again?
