For the past week or so, my server keeps crashing. i can start it fine, transcoding and direct play streams are fine (local and remote) but now and again the sever will simply close itself and remove the icon from the taskbar. Ive tried to reinstall it, tried to remove every single app on my pc, made sure my OS was up to date, ran windows system integrety check and the issue is still occuring. It got so bad i was contempleting looking for a script that would check at regular 3 mins interval if plex was running and if not then relaunch the sever again. Any suggestions? Thank you
Hi I had exactly the same thing on this release. it would close the minute any client tried to connect to it, would crash while a user was trying to browse the server. I have two plex servers and it happens on both, i Removed the current release and installed the previous version and that is working 100%
Happening on macOS as well. Crashes(?) every few hours. Not sure if another client in trying to connect as I haven’t managed to isolate it, but it did every time Firestick Plex tried to connect. I solved that by deleting cache etc on the Firestick Plex app.
I optimized the database, cleaned bundles, turned dlna off and on (because it seemed related), analyzed all media-- seemed everything was good.
2 days later, I’ve just crashed again. Still no idea what where or why. Nothing in the logs is indicative other than a crash report has been uploaded. Where can I get the previous version? My Plex Data/Updates folder doesn’t have 1.22.0.4163. Should we even downgrade? This is supposedly caused by some database migration, which didn’t work correctly?
No crashes since i went back to the earlier version and Plex is functioning like it should.
Look in the Plex Server install directory for the Updates folder (c:\Program Files…).
Alternately, look in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Updates (ex: c:\users\username\AppData\Local). AppData is normally hidden. Enable viewing of hidden files in Windows Explorer to view the contents (In Windows Explorer, click View tab, then the checkbox for Hidden Items).
I know which folder you are referring to. I’m saying that for some reason I don’t have 1.22.0.4163 in that folder (did I skip that version? I can’t remember).
Same problem here on MacOS. It’s a pain in the ass. My plex app on TV doesn’t work anymore, because everytime it connects to Plex, the server closes itself. Every single time. It’s not an OS related issue, it’s a software-related issue within the server software.

Started having this issue yesterday. Server on Version 1.22.1.4275.
For me, it happened when using the Plex client on a FireTV Stick. When I switched to the Samsung TV app it was fine. The TV is older and so has not had an update to the client app for a long time since Plex abandoned it.
I’m in exactly the same boat as seemingly many others…
I’m currently running on server version 1.21.3.4046 on a Windows 10 Pro machine, since seemingly the versions afterwards lead to my server crashing.
The problem ocurred the first time after updating to 1.21.4.4079, with the server crashing some times after the installation and after every restart/reboot as well.
I skipped a few versions and then applied the 1.22.1.4228 update, hoping that the issue had been resolved. Sadly it hadn’t, the server is still always crashing.
Reverting back to 1.21.3.4046 has the server running without any problems again.
I’ve attached the logs as well as the crash dumps from those faulty version, hoping someone might help me find the reason behind the crashes.
