I really wanted to like Plex, seems like a great solution for streaming to the ROKU.
Unfortunately, all the automatic scanning doesn’t work.
First of all, after manually matching and scanning for a while, it works pretty good for movies. That’s cool.
For TV shows? Absolute dogshit. I’ve followed all the naming conventions and folder hierarchy, to the letter. I did the “Plex dance” I’ve seen posted here.
I have separate folders on my media drive for “Movies” and “TV Shows”. For whatever reason, it wants to drag files out of the “Movies” folder into “TV Shows” in the web server app. So, then I get to go back and remove and re-organize all those. After those hours of work, I emptied the “TV Shows” folder and started from scratch, one show at a time. Every TV Show it pulls in is named some Nordic word, and I get to try and sort through the movies that it pulled in from the “Movies” folder again. Fun times.
After removing all my movies from the “Movies” folder, I tried again one TV show at a time. It pulls them all in, names them in Nordic and puts them all together as different versions of the same show. I’m tapped out, this is exhausting.

In short: Plex-great for movies, useless for TV Shows.

Sounds like you mixed something up when setting up your libraries.
If your Plex Media Server shows content from your movies folder in the tv-show library, you might want to double-check you haven’t mixed up the folders assigned to that library or a recursive folder assignment.

In simpler form lol in your library section you should have 1 library for your films and 1 for your tv programs

L:\TVshows\Kids Animation\Spongebob Squarepants\Season 1\S01E01_Titledisc_01.mp4

L:\Films\Action\Natuonal_Security

So your film library should only see the L:\Films

And your tv shows from the
L:\Tv shows

On your side bar in your roku client you should see 2 libraries at least 1 with just your films and 1 with just your tv shows. You have to switch between them to see your entire library unlike Netflix.

I had the folders correct the first time. But, after a bunch of futzing around and deleting everything then doing it all over again, it seems to be working better.
