Plex media server not finding music files

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058-e67a4e892
Player Version#: 4.8.4
OS Version: Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS

I’m a new Plex user and recently installed the free plexmediaserver on linux. I have a music library that I maintain with musicbrainz picard that has ~1000 artists ~770albums and ~11000 tracks. My problem is that after installing my music library and having it scanned by Plex, I am missing quite a few artists/albums/tracks, and I don’t have much of a clue as to why or where to look to find reasons/errors. I have re-scanned and optimized my database and scanned again and still am missing many files.

I have noticed that albums and tracks containing aspostrophes in the album title or track title seem to be missing.

I use musicbrainz scripting to customize my folder and file names to follow a consistent pattern - //<release_year>_<album_title>/[^]<track_num>^<track_title>.mp3. Some examples are:
./Music/Library/A/Aerosmith/1976_Rocks/01^Back_in_the_Saddle.mp3
./Music/Library/A/Aerosmith/1991_Pandora’s_Box/CD2^01^Toys_in_the_Attic.mp3

./Music/Library/N/Nilsson,_Harry/1995_Personal_Best:_The_Harry_Nilsson_Antholo/CD2^02^Joy.mp3

The Aerosmith Rock album appears to be loaded correctly as well as the Nilsson Personal Best two CD set. But, the Aerosmith Pandora’s Box album does not appear to be loaded. When using the plex web client to browse the folders in my library, I see the Pandora’s Box folder, but the client reports that it contains no files when it actually does.

I’m attaching some logs that I downloaded well after completing the intial scan.

If apostrophes are causing the problem, this won’t help, but when Plex is missing albums on a Linux server, my first go-to is permissions. Make sure the permissions for the albums being missed are the same as for those that Plex finds. Here’s Plex’s guide for permissions: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288596-linux-permissions-guide/

I have several albums/tracks with apostrophes, and Plex has no trouble with them, so there’s either a new problem, or something else is up.

Thanks for the response. All directories and files are owned by the same user/group. All directory permissions are set to drwxrwxr-x and all file persmission are set to -rw-rw-r–. So, I think I’m all set with permissions ownership.

After completely uninstalling my plex music server, reinstalling it, and re-adding my music, I examined the logs and was able to find that the missing music was indeed due to permissions issues on the music files - don’t know how I missed that earlier, but all is well now. Thanks!
