Plex Media Server not running after update

i have been running plex media server on a synology 1517s. last night it auto-updated as normal and i can no longer reach the server

Same here, running the October 8 update (1.13.9.5439-7303bc002) for Thecus x64.

I was finally able to install a new version of the exact same server package. Now it magically works. So maybe do that to fix your system.

Is this a Thecus or Synology issue please?
Each vendor handles PMS differently.

Also, I do ask everyone to confirm if this is an issue with 1.13.9 by backing down to 1.13.8 or earlier update if you can.

I don’t know what Thecus is. I am guessing it was a synology issue. I downloaded the Plex server package again and re-installed it. After two tries it worked.

I have very limited knowledge how servers interact and their problems. I bought the synology raId protected server to store all my media at home and be able to access the media on all my devices. So when a simple update causes an issue I have very little trouble shooting ability. Thanks for your reply Chuck.

I wish synology would have better customer service than referring its users to a forum. I don’t spend time on those either so figuring out how to simply ask a question on the forum was laborious.

I inquired about Thecus (another NAS manufacturer) because of Quazark’s reply.

We all do wish Synology were better.
We’ve unfortunately found that working with Synology is somewhat like the weather.

If you do have it working, having downloaded from plex.tv/downloads, then good.

If Trumpy or I can be of any help, just ask. There is a huge Synology community here which is always ready to jump in as well.

I will point out, should 1.13.8 give you too much difficulty, 1.13.6 is available in Engineering’s new packaging thread (Smaller, faster, files).

Should we need to try something even earlier, I maintain a few earlier versions on my G-drive for X86_64.
