Hi,
I installed Plex in a cloud instance in 2 different cloud providers and in both I have the following issue:
- When streaming a high bitrate 4K video file of about 48Mbps, the client application buffers and I am not able to view it.
- I am using Direct Streaming with no transcoding, as the cloud server only has 2 cores and 4Gb of RAM.
- I tested the bandwidth using iperf3 from my laptop in my home network to the cloud server and it is stable about 150 Mbps.
- If I reduce the file bitrate to about 20Mbps it works fine.
What I did to troubleshoot:
- Used 2 different cloud providers to make sure it was not an issue with one of them.
- Increased the capacity to 8 cores and 16Gb memory in one of the providers but the issue remain.
- When streaming the server does not do transcoding, which I can confirm.
- Using a Plex Media server in a computer at home, to stream the same file works just fine.
- If I put the file on a web server and stream it to the browser on the laptop from the cloud server it also works fine.
Is there any configuration in Plex to do some network optimization?
Thanks for your help.
