Plex Media Server on Ubuntu 20.04 not detecting picture files

Hello,

I’ve been trying to set up plex to view all the pictures stored on my server. I created a new library, set the directory to my pictures, and clicked the scan button. But every time I do this, plex tells me there are no pictures in the directory. Does it matter if the pictures are .jpg? I tried deleting the libraries and redownloading new pictures but nothing worked. Right now, I have no movies so I do not know if that feature works.
Please let me know if you can help me.

If it returns immediately, it means user plex doesn’t have permission to read the directories and files.

Linux is VERY strict on such things. Just because your username can read the files, Linux will not automatically grant user plex permission to read them.

You must expressly do that by hand.

I have several How-To’s in here for making media available (visible) to Plex.

please feel free to read down through them and find what fits your case.
