Plex Media Server Version 1.13.5.5291 playback error

Hello,
I have plex media server on my ubuntu 18.04 machine streaming to my Roku. Everything worked fine until I upgraded my server last night. I was watching a movie(Life Of the party) and the whole thing froze on me, my roku crashed and restarted.

Tonight tried to watch the exact same movie where I left off and got a non decript error on my roku. So went to my pc and found there is some sort of transcoder error. I dont know how to decipher my logs. My log files are attached

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If you revert to the previous version, does it play correctly?

If so, please gather:

  1. XML (hover over the item, get info -> View XML)
  2. Make a sample (5-10 MB) from around the timestamp

If it doesn’t play in the previous either, i would first verify the file isn’t damaged with another player

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for the response.

I ended up troubleshooting it and i managed to get it working perfectly i dont know what the errors were or what they were caused from. What got me is my movies are mounted to a directory to get past file permissions. Also the trancoding error wasnt showing up in the interface.

Now that i have it working , I can view the xml what would you like from that?

If you have it working, and it’s not failing, there’s not much served by digging deeper.

If it’s still not working.

Hover over the item -> expose the ellipsis -> click it -> Get Info -> View XML

Paste that … Down to the </media> part… Rest is all display genre and cast
Highlight the block and format it </> button at the top of the composition window.

it’ll protect it from doing whacky things.

thanks. I will give it a better test tommorow. im sure everythings working now from the server end.
