Plex Media Server was unable to open its media database

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896
Player Version#:

I had to do some work on the drive containing my Plex Media Server data. I have it set to be on D: drive rather than my C: drive. My C: drive is a small SSD. At some point in the past I reached out and was given instructions on moving the Metadata to my D: drive.

Reboot the computer.

Verify that the drive has indeed still the D: drive letter.

Look into the Windows registry and verify that the registry key described in here still points to a folder on drive D: [HowTo] An extended guide on how to move the Plex data folder on Windows

Rebooting my PC didn’t make any difference for me.
I did check my registry settings and does point to my D: drive.
The header for the notification does say Corrupt Database.

Important clue!

Either:

or

Or both.

Make sure to never pull the drive’s data or power cable while Plex server is running.
(Hence my personal recommendation to always use an internal drive. Network shares are completely out of the question.)

Yeah, the backup worked!
