I belatedly upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium. Plex Media Server ran fine on the old system. I downloaded the latest version of Plex Media Server for this OS, version 1.7.5.4035, uninstalled the old version and installed the new version. Each time I try to start Plex, I receive a Windows error - PlexMediaServer.exe - the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000005). A quick search of the forums doesn’t show any reports of the same error message. Can anyone help?
Did you perform all updates for Windows 7,
including ‘Service Pack 1’
and ‘Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7’
(after a fresh installation of Windows 7, you probably need several restarts and Windows Update runs until you are completely up to date.)
Don’t disable Windows Media Player in the ‘Windows Features’ control panel.
Go to the Software control panel and deinstall “Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 (x86)”
if present.
Then reboot Windows, download a fresh installation file from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 and install it.
Did you install completely fresh or did you try to import an old Plex library?
I know this is an old post but when I did it I started as a fresh install. I am still installing all of the updates from the windows 7 update center. I also did a windows upgrade from vista to 7. I then did a fresh install of plex where non of the registry files or database files were touched yet. My database is from an older version of plex, an update old
