If i try to play anything, it gives me the ‘‘there was an unexpected error, please visit…’’
Version of Windows? Up to date? What type of media files (mp4, mkv…etc)? Was everything working prior to the server version you have listed?
I am assuming you are trying to play on plex web vs an actual device like Roku, Xbox, Firetv.
Both windows and plex media server is up to date. Mkv files. Before reinstalling my windows, everything worked correctly.
“Reinstalling Windows”. What kind of Windows is it?
Is Windows Media Player disabled? (It must not)
Re-install Plex manually:
- Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
- deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.)
- for safety, reboot Windows
- download the installation exe of the newer version. Use a different web browser or even a ‘download manager’ software to do it.
- Verify the digital signature of the download for validity.
- install it
(If you want to install an older version of PMS, take a look into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Updates)
Actually, yesterday everything worked all of a sudden (i didn’t make any changes), i could watch anything, and now the same problem is here again.
And btw i have a Win 10 pro (1903), and the Win media player is not disabled.
