Plex Metadata cache clearing

The solution to a number of issues with Plex Metadata is to clear the cache. It would be great is clearing the cache could be done from within the Plex App to save having to do digging around in the back end deleting files and folders.

It would ensure it was done safely, correctly and also provide data back to plex on the volume of issues people are having with Metadata to help improve the Metadata agent.

Just to be clear we’re on the same page… you’re writing about clearing the agent caches (or plugin/channel caches where those still have relevance) as described in this support article?

I was under the impression that’s what the scheduled maintenance task Remove old cache files every week will do?
Edit: I stand corrected about the scheduled task… this doesn’t seem to cover the agent caches but optimized images for the various apps → Scheduled Tasks | Plex Support

Yep, that’s correct. With the myriad of issues with the Plex Metadata Agent and the inability to roll back to alternate agents the ability to clear the metadata cache and refresh the data the agent holds is a common event that the scheduled task does not appear to be doing properly.

The ability to force a full flush of the cache, by library or by agent, as a command would be particularly useful.

The old agents which use this cache are now deprecated.
