Server Version#:1.73.1.3905-c1a43e18
Hi everyone,
I need help to solve this one (if it is on my side because I am starting to think this is related to the way Plex itself handle metadata). Plex has started (I’d say a few months ago, probably more) to choose quebec titles for my content over the french ones (by french here, I mean the ones from France).
My server language is French.
Use original titles is not checked in my settings as I want my titles as they are known in France.
Plex has been associating movie/shows titles as they are known in Quebec for some time now. It was doing fine until then.
In case you don’t know, Quebec and France have their own way of renaming titles to suit their local culture. A french person will be absolutely clueless (or will guess at best) a content with its quebec title translation and vice versa.
Here are a few examples:
[If Original/Quebec/France titles translations are all different:
The Silver Linings Playbook (2012) (Original title) is known as “Happiness Therapy” in France but “Le Bon Côté des choses” in Quebec.
My Plex will choose the Quebec title.
[If Original and France titles are the same but is different in Quebec]
Example: Desperate Housewives (2004) (US) is known as “Desperate Housewives” in France but is known as “Beautés désespérées” in Quebec.
My Plex will still choose the Quebec title in that case.
Even a movie from France will be renamed with its international version because of this.
Le Sens de la fête (2017) (France) C'est la vie! (2017 film) - Wikipedia
will be renamed with its international title “C’est la vie!” on my server.
There aren’t that many movies with this problem (but enough for it to be disturbing), but it makes it very difficult to find this particular content on my server, as searching it with French title translations won’t find any results.
