Plex Mix completely stopped working

Plex Mix has completely stopped working on my server.
I do not have an idea on how to debug, I cannot find anything in the logs.
When this stopped working, I had tried to move my Plex database to my D: drive, but later found out that it will not work for me as I have a DrivePool drive for D:. So, I moved it back to the default location.
I have doing a refresh all metadata a few times, and I have completely deleted my music library and re-added to see if that helped.
I then renamed my “Plex Media Server” folder to .old, and started over and added the Music library, and voila, Plex Mix works.
But, I need to find out what is wrong, as I can’t redo all my other libaries, I have 12 TB of movies/tv and their watched statuses, so it would not be the preferred method to say the least.
Any help appreciated, including just where to start in the logs. Thanks.

When you say database, do you mean the actual database files or do you mean the entire Plex Media Server folder? If it was the entire folder, moving it to the drivepool probably killed all the symlinks that PMS used. Moving it back wouldn’t work since the links are already broken.

Exit PMS. Look in the .old folder and find the plug-in support folder. There should be a database folder. Copy that entire folder to the new location. Restart PMS. That should bring back your libraries, but without any posters. Refresh your libraries and the posters should come back when it’s done.

Yes, by database, I meant the whole Plex Media Server folder.
I just tried this, it worked to recover my libraries from a fresh install, but I still can’t get a Plex Mix.
Every single track I try gives the error, “Sorry, there is no Plex Mix available for this track.”. I have 10500 songs, so there should be a plex mix available for any track, and I have tried all the tracks the I know worked before.
What logs can I check to see what’s failing trying to get a plex mix, it’s like the server can’t find any genres or something.
Is there a way I can delete the whole folder, re-create the music library, and then copy the rest of the libraries out of the old database folder?

Any help with this?
I have tried deleting the Music Library out of my original profile, then shutting down plex and renaming the profile to .old, creating a new one, then copying the database from .old to the new profile. Then, if I create a small music library with just a couple of my subfolders, plex mix works. Then if I add my fulll D:\Music folder to the library, plex mix no longer works.
This is frustrating, it takes 5 hours to re-scan my music library, so this is very hard to debug, what logs can I check?

I thought Plex Pass came with support? Is this not where I’m supposed to get it.
Plex mix and syncing my music were the main reasons I purchased a Plex Pass.
This has been a pretty frustrating experience debugging this problem for a day and a half with no help.

Sorry for the delay. Lots of things going on.

I’m confused by what you did here. What profile? Do you mean the entire Plex Media Server folder that you tried moving before? How did you create a new profile?

I’m not sure what you mean when you say that Plex mix no longer works. Do you mean there isn’t the choice for Plex Mix, or there is a choice, but when you select it, it gives you the error “Sorry, there is no Plex Mix available for this track.”? If so, please recreate this error, then provide me the Plex Media Server Log.

Sorry to sound snippy, I realize everyone’s busy. I am usually good at debugging these things using the logs and searching the forum’s, but this one has me confused and frustrated.

Out of my original library, I deleted the Music library. I then shut down plex and renamed my windows AppData folder to “Plex Media Server.old”, restarted plex to get a new Plex Media Server profile. I then copied the Databases folder from “Plex Media Server.old” to the new profile "Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support". I then see all my libraries on my new ‘server’, minus the Music library which I deleted.

Then, if I create a small music library with just a couple of my subfolders, plex mix works. Then if I add my fulll D:\Music folder to the library, plex mix no longer works.

Yes, as in “Sorry, there is no Plex Mix available for this track.”…for every track I try.
Log attached.

So… when you will fix Plex mix feature?

I have noticed plex mix has disappeared. I use plex mix a lot and since the last server update I can’t find the option on any device, Android phones, tablets, fire tv or directly on the server interface via a browser!

Tried shutting everything down and firing it all back up but no luck! There is no option on any of my tracks to use plex mix.

Really don’t want to rebuild the music as it takes 8 years plus due to the number of tracks.

I got no help, kind of gave up, too bad, I just started over, and plex mix is back, but I lost all my on deck items etc for all my other librairies, luck i had trackt for my watched statuses, but still a pain. Thought buying a plex pass would come with better support.
Now after a rebuild I no have the ability to add a folder as a playlist, is this something that disappeared, I’ve done this before, lots.

@MovieFan.Plex - any update on this or am I going to need to set my Nas rebuilding?

This is one of the frustrating issues with plex…slow technical support even for paid members! All great while working fine but trying to get a bug sorted is painful!

I am having a problem. I changed my subscription to annual after trying this for a few months. And now plex mix has disappeared. Not sure if this happened after i changed my subscription or after the last update. What can I do to get it back?

Not sure, support here seems to be VERY lacking. I was asked for a log 4 days ago, and never heard back, and just gave up.
I just deleted my complete AppData\Local\Plex Media Server folder and started over, what a pain in the ass.
Re-installed all libraries, and basically waited a day for all scans to finish, then went back in and looked through the thousands of posters to fix the custom changes I had done before, wrong movies, music albums, etc.
Now I am back to having a working Plex Mix, but not without a ton of work on my part, and zero help from Plex, even though I pay for support. Frustrating.

I think mine went after the last update to the plex server - I am hoping someone at plex migth take note and have a look into it but on the other hand I am still waiting to fix the audio skipping bug for the Amazon Fire TV and that has been six months and we don’t seem to any further on that either!

I have a feeling that I will need to rebuild the music library which I have just got sorted and organised! When I get a spare day, I will look at it but for now I have living without Mix which is a paid for only service I might add!

Yeah, for me, deleting the Music libary, and then re-adding did not give me Plex Mix back, it would just say Plex Mix not available for this track for every song. I had to delete the entire profile folder and start over.

There is no way I am doing that (lol) - we have over a 1000 films, a load of box sets and a music collect with 60k tracks! It would take days to rebuild everything…just going to have to live with our Plex Mix!

Yeah, similar size here, took a half day to rebuild database, then time to make the manual edits.

Hey, sorry I did’t get back to you earlier. I found an error in your log and was trying to identify the cause. Basically, Plex Mix info is provided by the Plex Music agent. Somehow, there was a mismatch in the information for a track versus the Plex Mix info it had. i.e., Your Plex Mix info says that song #1 is similar to song #208 so when you hit Plex Mix, it will try to play #208, except it can’t find #208. Somehow the indexes for your files no longer line up with the Plex Mix info. Recreating your music library got everything lined up again.

Can you Plex Dance 1 artist then get me the entire PMS log package?

Not exactly, recreating my music library did not give me plex mix back.
I deleted and recreated my music library numerous times, and plex mix never worked.
I had to delete my entire profile folder and start over, recreating all of my tv, movies, music libraries.
