Hi everyone,
Does anybody know why is there a mess with genres when using Plex Movie as agent and scanner. If I set library language as ‘Russian’ then some genres are displayed in Russian and the other in English. I would understand if some rare genres like ‘Indie’ are not translated properly, but i can’t understand why ‘Action’ which has very popular translation was not translated.
Embedded meta data in mp4 / m4v files.
have only mkv’s in my library
besides embedded metadata is turned off in advanced library preferences
Are all movies matched using “Plex Movie”?
If you only changed the agent after the library has been created, this cannot be guaranteed.
Check the Plex XML info of a movie with an English genre and also of a movie with a Russian genre.
Compare the content of the guid="... XML property.
Do these both start with guid="plex://movie/... or are there also movies which have a differently-looking guid?
yes. for troubleshooting purposes i’ve created new pms instance and added new library.
The problem is that there is no ‘Russian’ genre if ‘English’ one is already there, in other words no genre duplicates.

update:
the issue appears to be not only related to Russian language of the library. I’ve tried German, Dutch and even Hebrew. Still some genres e.g Action, Adventure are displayed in English.
can anyone help to resolve this?
