While this is not what you’ll want to hear but what you describe could be due to how you have your media structured.
The plex scanner works best when each movie is within its own folder. This is recommended in the plex documation. Having all your movies in a single folder will force the scanner to work significantly harder and slower. Any changes in a folder will force everything in that folder to be rescanned for changes. So if you add 1 movie everything is rescanned for changes.
So the first thing to rule out is your media’s naming. Can you give an example.
yes all my libary is structured as plex recormends
movies/bladerunner (1982)/bladerunner (1982).mkv
and some times there is srt files and nfo files in the in the indervidule movie folders
Second thing to check is your server version. The version you included above is the Web Client and not server version. Recent fixes have been included in the latest server to the scanner so they might help if your not on the latest.
yes i am on the latest i also use raidrive mounted as a local hard drive its never been a problem before
Okay. At this point sounds like a full set of server logs might help debug. Can you perform a scan of your libraries and then upload the server logs so we can take a look after it completes.
BTW… Did this just happen today? If so there was a plex api outage early so that might be a cause.
yes will do were are they keeped
Follow the link in the server logs, it explains the how to to get them.
thanks for helping me i hope you can sort this out even if i started a new server
Took a peek at your logs and they all look normal enough. I see when this scan was happening …

… that it was most certainly slow and took approx 12 minutes to complete.

However, at this time I can see movies being played including trans-coding so that again would seem normal enough as the scanner might run lower priority while that is happening. Also it was doing a large enough update 2453, at least that what plex picked up.
Later on …
