Plex multiple episode files autoplay issues

Is anyone still having issues with the way Plex handles files with multiple episodes?

I know Plex finally implemented a fix a few months ago so I went through all of my children’s Paw Patrol episodes (there’s quite a lot) and renamed the files, plex shows all the episodes now, it also marks both episodes as played when watching the file. That bit is all great

The problem seem to be autoplay still repeats the same episode again, is anyone else experiencing this or is it a problem my end?

A different approach was implemented in Plex Server now (as of version 1.18.3.2111):
Episodes in the same file are marked as ‘watched’ too.
Duplicate enqueuing of the same file is prevented.

As an example if I watch S01E01-E02 it will mark both episodes and played correctly however when it finishes playing E01 it will autoplay E02 which is obviously a repeat.

The first part is working correctly for me but the duplicate queuing is not working.

Is no one else seeing this issue?

I can see the Fire TV Plex app has recently updated, I half hoped this may fix it, even though I think it is a server issue rather than a player issue, but still the problem continues.

Am I really the only 1 still seeing this issue? Any input from someone it works perfectly for would also be appreciated it would at least let me know the new feature does work and its just myself.

I’m having the same issue, episodes correctly marked as played but autoplay doesn’t seem to be aware. I have shown my daughter how to play the next correct multiepisode with autoplay disabled as it causes more issues!

Glad it’s not just me then!!

I just decided to spend hours splitting any joint episodes into single episodes.

I am as well experiencing this issue. Correctly marks multiple episodes as watched but autoplay ALWAYS tries to play the next immediate episode instead of the next file’s episode.

Same here, and from what I can remember I don’t know that I’ve ever had Plex get smart and autoplay skip the duplicate second episode half after the whole file plays…

Need to bump this as it is still an issue. Plex correctly marks all episodes that span a file as watched when finished watching. However, autoplay will queue up and play the next episode with no consideration for the file it is from. So if you have S01E01-E02 and then play E01 via plex interface, plex will mark episodes 01 and 02 as watched and autoplay will then play episode 02, which is the same file as 01.

I am seeing this issue as well. All episodes of Doc McStuffins for the kids are two episode files and it just plays the same one again on autoplay. Have to manually skip to the next eipsode. It does correctly mark both as watched though.

EDIT: This is on the Shield running both latest server and player version. Playing via Windows app it works correctly. Appears it may be an Android/other client issue?
