I really like how Plex Music breaks out Albums, Live Albums, Soundtracks, and Compilations. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find how to move music from the wrong category to the correct one.
Example, under the Beatles, the White Album shows up in Compilations when it should be under the Albums category. Any ideas on how to correct this?
Click the pencil icon on the lower left of the album. See if one of the tags it has is “Compilation”. It sounds to me like it picks out albums of type “compilation” based on such a tag. Maybe the white album incorrectly applies this tag?
It is not listed as a compilation on MB. My guess is Plex is not matching to the right album. There are two compilations entitled “The Beatles” that aren’t the white album.
You might try finding the MB release that matches your copy, get the MBID for that release, and use it to Fix Match. If you’re not familiar with how to do that, see the tips at the bottom of this page.
While I agree that Musicbrainz is the answer here, I think that I’d still like the ability to manually change these within the edit function of each album. I have a few unofficial live albums that default to the main albums. I’d like to be able to group them with other live albums. Or if I have an album that isn’t in Musicbrainz, I’d rather just change the category (as easy as changing a movie poster). Otherwise, I have to maneuver through Musicbrainz and add it myself (which isn’t the easiest thing for me to do).
