I have a very strange music scanning problem. Using latest Plex Server, using default Music library settings. The music scanning time is super unusually long.
For example, please test this sample file:
The zip has 2 albums in MP3 format.
With Plex Server on both QNAP and Windows, scanning this 2 albums folder, takes at least 30mins to over 1 hour!
This can’t be right, right? I hope someone can tell me what’s wrong with my music files, or it’s Plex server setting issue (using default settings now).
Thanks!

Remove the embedded cover from all files, then test again. Leave only the external cover.jpg
To speed up scanning, embed an AlbumArtist meta tag.
The single-disc album contains 2 instances of the Album Title meta tag.
I was able to pin it down to the Brandenburg Concertos album.
What ever I did, the scanner would hang on this one.
I even completely rewrote the mp3 file structure using a very thorough mp3 repair tool.
I will forward this one to the developers.
Thanks for checking my question!
I use MP3Tag to remove all embedded artwork, and added AlbumArtist on the 2 albums. Then scan the folder again in Plex. It still takes around 30mins to scan. It makes no difference!
On the same Windows PC, MusicBee only took a few seconds to scan the 2 albums!
