Scanning seems to hang indefinitely on certain album

Server Version#: QNAP Plex Media Server 1.30.0.6442

I’m trying to help a friend with his Plex-server (he’s got a much bigger music library than I do) — and I’m having some trouble.

We just moved his music library to the QNAP, in a shared-folder (all of that went fine) and now we’re running Plex from the default installed version. (note: I tried to update it manually to v1.32.x, but then the UI wouldn’t load, so I restarted the QNAP and had to remove / re-install, so we’re back at 1.3.0.6442)…

anyway… last week we tried to set up the library, and the scanning took a while (his music is 1.06TB, so it wasn’t surprising)… but it eventually worked.

After the snafu with the 1.32 upgrade, we ended up having to remake the PMS… so we had to add the library sources over again in the new install of 1.30.0.6442 — the music library is hanging on like the 45th artist, 95th album. He’s got a couple of thousand albums, and it’s been hanging since 8pm last night on the same album.

I found some 1yr old post about issues with scanning, but I haven’t seen any concrete solutions (work-arounds or bug-fixes).

Anyone have ideas on where to go next with the troubleshoot?
