Plex Music Survey

I just received an email to take part in a survey regarding Music in Plex. I just wanted to pass on some feedback.

I I can appreciate wanting to manage the survey but I felt it was severely lacking in gathering information about Music in Plex overall. It was very geared towards TIDAL and why I would or wouldn’t choose Plex for Music as a streaming service. I feel there should have been more questions aimed at what Plex had been and is still most likely being used for which is a private collection being streamed. Plex Music is severely lacking in features and function when it comes to playing your own collection through Plex. Especially in Android Auto.

I feel like TIDAL is a waste of time and money for people such as myself who have a collection of music and they just want to stream it easily to any device that uses Plex. Maybe some more research into that category would benefit a lot more Plex Music users? Just a thought

We genuinely appreciate the feedback, and the fact you took the time to provide it shows you care about the Plex experience. This specific survey was sent to a small, randomly selected portion of people who use music in Plex. There are, and will be, other surveys (including more around music in Plex).

As for TIDAL, one of the biggest benefits is for existing users - even those with a substantial collection - in how it supplements and fills in the gaps, plus can aid in discovery. I understand not wanting to pay more, though!

Bullcrap!! Tidal is nothing more than a money grab by Plex and trying to call it something else is disingenuous at best and an attempt to directly mislead Plex users at worse.

Fortunately it can be disabled BUT it should be the other way around, That is if a user want to see or use it they should have to explicitly enable it.

As I said it is nothing more than a money grab by Plex but Plex is entitled to try to make all the money they can they should just be upfront about it and not try to make it sound that their motives are strictly altruistic,

Someone flagged this post and whoever it was will probably flag it again. There is nothing personally abusive and the only reason to flag it would be to attempt to hide what Plex is doing to their customers.

money grab or not, you cannot deny that it useful if you are already a tidal user, or have become one.

personally I would love to see google play music integration, since I already have GPM (family) and will continue to use it in addition to my plex music library.

no doubt others have expressed similar interest in their music service of choice (spotify/pandora/etc)

I look forward to more surveys with the hope they’ll be a bit more open ended.

I do understand that TIDAL is meant to bridge the gap between what I have in my collection and what I don’t. I just don’t want it to overshadow what the whole point of Plex has been. Media management server for my media. I think Plex can appreciate that the features and stability of accessing those things should be the focus. As I mentioned, the Music side of Plex needs work and I don’t think throwing a streaming service in there is the fix.

They have to make money somewhere… You dont have to use it…

As I said, or at least implied, I do not have a problem with Plex making money or even with Tidal being incorporated in Plex and I also said it could be turned off. The problem I have is with how it is presented to the Plex users. It is NOT a gift or even a needed feature, it is a way for Plex to make money and that is clearly its primary purpose and it is disingenuous to present it otherwise.
