PLex needing internet connection?

Hi,

Issue when using Plex on my PS3.

I have computer up stairs with all the files, its connected via wire to router which is in turn connected to PS3 downstairs.

The issue I have is that the playback is slow and laggy, buffers all the time, and seems to need an internet connection ie signing into PSN to allow playback even though its all within a local network.

If i play via PS4 or browser outside the network i get no issues at all with playback.

Are there any settings im missing which would allow this to play without errors like it does over a WAN? highly annoying as i am coming close to getting rid of Plex completely and just copying files to hard drive and playing through this way as i know there will be no lag then.

Any help appreciated

Why not enable the DLNA setting on your Plex Media Server, then navigate to the DLNA device on your PS3?

On the PS3
The DLNA Media Server icon is only displayed when [Media Server Connection] is enabled under (Settings) > (Network Settings).

Here’s more info:

DLNA is enabaled, however plex is now unusable, i have to wait 10 minutes for it to go through menus and load a video, then reboot system to do again for another episode of a show… cuts out during films, yet on remote through ps4 PC, mobile phone works without any issues at all.

Shame as plex seemed great but looks like the PS3 app is broken

PS3 and PS4 apps both need internet connection start, however streaming should happen over the local network as long as both devices can see each other on the local network.
