I’m running in a local network situation, no external access is needed or wanted.
So far I’ve encountered the following disparate issues:
Successfully set up recording some local programs, but in the library the station logo is wrong. The station is KGW (Portland, OR) but in the library it shows as KSL (Salt Lake City).
On a Samsung smart TV with the Plex App, nothing will play unless it’s set to Force Direct Play
On an iPad, nothing will play, and there is no Force Direct Play. It appears the iPad app is trying to connect to my router’s external IP address, not the network local address.
The server’s “Friendly Name” was correct yesterday, but today it reset itself to “undefined”
In the Windows player, running on the same host as the Plex Media Server, playback of recorded content fails with “An unknown error occurred (4294967283)
Note: If, in Windows Explorer, I locate the recorded media files (.ts extension) and double-click them they will open and play in Windows Media Player., so it’s not a file corruption issue.
Searching the forum doesn’t turn up anything helpful for these issues. Possible hits apply to very old versions and actually contradict what currently works (i.e. “disable Direct Play” to make things work).
How do I get help?
My needs are simple:
Record a small number of OTA programs
Playback to a Samsung Smart TV running the Plex app
Playback to an iPad running the Plex app
This would allow me to get rid of Dish, which is expensive for what I need. So far, it doesn’t appear Plex is going to be able to do this without significant tweaking and handholding, if at all.
I deleted all of Hauppauge WinTV, reinstalled the Hauppauge drivers only and rebooted (again). This seems to have cleared up SOME of the playback problems.
It’s still listing the local recordings with the wrong station logo and identifier, and gives the wrong language info for the audio portion.
This is better, it shouldn’t take this much work to get things working.
