Plex/Nine Database

Haha, awesome!

Thx for the info! I really appreciate it!

Can someone say what the naming convention will be for local fanart? I believe .8.5 does not allow for local fanart when refreshed. I've finally figured out that VIDEO_TS.tbn is the naming convention for cover art when using VIDEO_TS. If .9 will pick up local fan art, I was thinking of getting a head start.

Also, can local .nfo files be used (i.e. in each movie folder)? I have quite a few movies that will not scrape and would like to make it easier when rebuiding my library.

Thanks for all your work. Plex is awesome.

The most important thing is making things consistent, we’ll be able to deal with lots of different scenarios and people will be able to customize to pick up their own naming conventions.

We’re going to be moving away from NFO files, although, as I’ve said, it should be pretty easy to suck them into the new library. The problem they solve isn’t one you should be having with the new Library.

Little goldmine of a thread for nuggets of info…

Any updates on 0.9 series, an estimated time frame besides the classic "it will be released when its done"?

It's coming along nicely :)

Will the new library have a method of displaying the source material as a flag and will it work in the same substring style way as xbmc or will it be done differently?

How can I help test? I have 2 computers running plex, 50 TV shows and 500 HD movies spread across 5 HDs and 10TBs....surely I could help stress test something:)

I too would be happy to assist in testing.

I have 2 systems connecting to a centralized database on a 3rd system via symlink (a server)

14TB holding around 120 TV series and 1200 movies, mostly HD

I connect to my centralized iTunes library w/ almost 65k MP3s and my centralized iPhoto library

Thanks for the offers, we’ll definitely be taking you up on it before too long

If thats the case, sign me up aswell please. Pretty much the same setup as the previous dude. 16TB vista box serving 3 macs, symlinked libraries. Plenty of movies, all 1080. Tons of TV of various formats. 2 minis and an iMac. Previously a Plex user now using xbmc. Wants to get back to plex for stability issues related to symlink issues though, but dont wanna rescrape with 0.85 just to rescrape again in a couple of months or whenever 0.9 is out.

haha i took it as Elan and company are going to be releasing a version to all of us soon to “test”

I have a system very similar to Tad's. 16 TB Ubuntu server with about 1100 HD movies and 150 TV Shows connected to a Hackintosh HTPC. Let me know how I can help test.

I have a 1TB time capsule and three machines (iMac, Mini, and Macbook) running Plex 0.8.5 under SL 10.6.2, and would love to help… and incidentally try, finally, this never coming 0.9 version

It’s been a while since we got an update from Plex… when is the next version of Plex gonna be released??

We’re working hard on it, Kriskmk  Unfortunately I can’t give you a date, b/c we’re not working on it full time and thus it’s hard to know when it’ll be done.

alright.. fair enough.. at least can you tell us how many more hours you would theoretically need to complete it? It is understood that you won't be able to give the dedicated number of hours u'll be working on it ever day..

how about releasing alpha versions?

Will it be possible to run Plex 0.9 side by side with 0.8.5, at least during testing? If I can ensure my working 0.8.5 setup is untouched, I’d be more than happy (ecstatic, I believe is the term) to help with any testing of 0.9.

We’ll release some early access versions as soon as they are reasonable solid.

It will be possible to run the two side by side.

Thanks to everyone for your willingness to help out!

Happy to help Beta test as well...
