Plex no longer transcoding wmv files for stream?

Server Version#: DSM 7.1.142962 update 4
Player Version#: 1.32.0.6918

Hi, my synology used to play wmv files with no problem even without plex plus.
But as of about 2 months they started getting choppy and not playing correctly.

MP4 stream no issue.

Anyone know of any changes in the past few months that are doing this? I tried toggling plex settings, removing extra plex folders etc.
