Plex no longer works on 2017 LG TV

Hasn’t worked for the last week. Any idea what’s going on?

Care to elaborate? Mine is working fine.

It tries to launch and then the screen goes blank

The app has hung a couple of times on me, usually after an update (I’ve a B7 OLED, Plex app v3.103.1).

This always seems to work:

  1. Turn off the TV
  2. Remove the LG Plex app from authorized devices via Plex Web.
  3. Remove the power from the TV.
  4. Wait 30 seconds, then plug in the TV.
  5. Power on the TV
  6. Launch the Plex app. You should see the authentication screen with code for plex.tv/link.
  7. Login & watch movies/shows.

Pulling the power ensures the TV completely powers down and the Plex app is completely stopped, with nothing cached, etc (like what happens when you put a PC to sleep).

If above fails, try deleting the Plex app first (a “step 0” if you will), then re-installing after restoring power to the TV.

Worked temporarily, but still having problems.

I’m getting a message along the lines “the server is unreachable, will keep trying” and then the screen blurs and that’s it.

Plex is working just fine everywhere else, and was working fine on the LG TV app until a couple weeks ago.

Anyone else having this problem?
