I have an LG B6 and cannot connect to Plex using the app. I get the “Plex is unable to start” error and reseting doesn’t fix it. It works fine if I use the XPlay app or Android app and cast to Chromecast. Anyone else with this issue?
“Plex is unable to start” sounds like the app itself, not the server connection. Have you tried uninstalling the app completely and redownloading it to the TV?
There are at least 10 threads about this issue with Plex not working on LG TVs since 2018. I have the exact same problem as OP. Plex just hangs on startup and then I get error -337, it’s very frustrating. Works fine on consoles, web apps and the iPad app.
Tried multiple servers on the same network all connected via LAN.
The Plex team surely must be aware of this issue but apparently doesn’t want to do anything about it. I’m not trying to be an idiot, but Xplay works fine - every time. So clearly it should be fixable.
I hope they will either fix this problem or just pull the app from the LG store as it has no business being downloadable when it just doesn’t work.
Nope. I launch app, it has the big Plex logo load screen, hangs for a minute, then the unable to connect error comes up. Then you click to reset and it just loops and does the same thing over and over.
Something a miss here as Iam using B8 WebOS 4.1 so the C8 should have a LG update. Please check you have your LG TV updated to latest.
The B6 is a 2016 model so not sure but check.
If you have not updated do so and then Try a re install of LG app. Remember to restart your TV from the power point pause a couple minutes between uninstalling and installing. Delete your device again also.
