Plex no longer works on my Android devices

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156-f737b826c-MyCloudPR4100_OS5
Player Version#: 2025.30.0

I have 3 Samsung devices: S22 phone, Tab 9 and Tab 11. All have worked with Plex perfectly…until now. The only change I can think of is that they were upgraded to Samsung’s UI 8.0 but I don’t see anyone complaining about that.

The symptoms are identical for the 3 devices: Movies all show as UNAVAILABLE. TV shows offer to play but always come back with an error, though not always the same error. Sometimes, it’s a Transcoder error and sometimes it’s something else.

I’ve tried uninstalling, reinstalling, logging out and back in, etc.

The server is a Western Digital PR4100 which has not changed in years.

I’m open to suggestions.

Thanks, in advance.

Are you able to test with any non-Android devices? What about the Plex app on a computer (not the server)? Or log into Plex.tv via the browser on your phone. Just to test to make sure you server itself isn’t the issue.

On that note, have you updated the server recently? If so, roll back to the previous version and see if that fixes your issue.

Thank you, yes. Everything works fine on Windows, LG TV, and Nvidia Shield. I only updated the server just before I posted. Before that, it was running a September update.

Its got me flummoxed. The TV shows and movies are on the same device. So why am I getting different errors for them? It makes me think it can’t really find anything, but it thinks it sees the shows so it tries to play them and fails.

I’ve also turned off VPN which normally isn’t a problem since I ALLOW LAN traffic. No change.

UPDATE: It looks like nothing is able to access the PMS. The ones I thought were, were logged into a different server. This makes a lot more sense!

So now we have a more common problem. The PR4100 running the Plex server stopped being seen by my players. So I removed it from my authorized devices list, hoping it would reappear and everyone could see it. It has not reappeared.

I’ve tried accessing it directly by using it http://192.168.xx.yy:32400/web but that fails. Is there any other way to access it? I can ping it, by the way.

UPDATE: I have been able to log in to my other Plex server using the above method but not to the Western Digital. I’ll stop posting here and check out the WD Plex forum. Thanks for trying.

SUPER UPDATE: Apparently, there was a known (new) error on the WD Plex side that (for me, at least) caused the Plex server to turn itself off on the PR4100. The error has been resolved and my issue has been fixed but turning the server BACK ON.
