Unable to stream on certain devices

I’ve started having issues when trying to watch anything on a couple of different devices.

On my Nvidia Shield TV, Samsung Smart TV and LG Smart TV, when I use the Plex app, I can sign in and see all my content, but when trying to play it says “Error. An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.” It happens no matter what is playing. When I load the same thing on my Android phone, iPad or a web browser, it works without issue. Everything is exactly the same whether local or remote, or even using a VPN. It does work on the Shield when I cast to it from my phone.

My server is running on a PC with Unraid 6.9.2. Everything is up to date.

I can get any logs from the devices I have, just not sure how to get them so any help would be appreciated.

Update to the current release of Plex Media Server, 1.24.0.4930.

1.18.9.2578 was released in March 2020.

Connection Error when playing films on android tv app

As @richyh67 mentions, there is a problem with current versions of Android/Android TV apps and older versions of Plex Media Server. The Android apps are rejecting the security certificate from the server for some reason. Users running Plex Media Server versions 1.18.x and 1.19.x are definitely affected. Wow didn’t realise it wasn’t up to date. Turns out lots of things on the server was and when I updated that I was way behind on everything. It looks like its working again on everything. Thanks!
