Hi guys, I have owned a Synology with Plex since 2020 and have had no problems so far. Recently I bought the QNAP TS-464 and copied the data (only videos, NOT the configuration) from my Synology to my QNAP. After installing Plex, I got to the login page and after that I got the error message “No authorization
You do not have permission to access this server.” Which is weird because I am the owner of the server.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Steps taken:
Rebooted QNAP
Reinstalled Plex (several times)
Restarted the Plex app on the server (several times)
Plex/web is fickle when looking your LAN for hosts.
It needs “Incognito / Private-browsing” mode if you already have another server on the LAN (like your DS220+)
Add to this that QNAP will delete your PMS configuration/metadata whenever you uninstall/reinstall the app itself. (upgrade/downgrade by installing ON TOP OF only.)
To aid in debugging, have you created a shared folder named (exactly) PlexData ?
When you create this, anywhere you want, Plex will use it to provide you access to the PMS data which is hidden in App Center (Logs, metadata, Preferences.xml, etc) through FileStation. If you don’t have a “PlexData” shared folder already, you might want to consider this.
Summary:
close the browser completely
Open the browser fresh
Open an incognito/private browser tab
In that new tab, open your QNAP by http://LAN.IP.of.QNAP:32400/web
– it will want you to sign in
– You will see “Got it”
– You will now be able to setup a new server and finish claiming it.
