Plex Not Automatically Updating Libraries Upon Change Detection

Server Version#: 1.13.8.5395
Player Version#: 3.73.1

For some reason, since the new update, Plex is not updating my libraries automatically upon detection of a change. Also, my music library is being scanned constantly. If I clicked Cancel Scan, it will either resume immediately, or it will scan two other libraries for about 5 seconds and then come back to Music and just keep scanning. I fear this is the reason Plex isn’t detecting changes to other libraries because it never seems to cease scanning the Music library.

My data is kept on a Synology 1817+, but I don’t use Plex on the NAS due to CPU consumption. I have a separate Plex server on an old computer that retrieves the files from my NAS.

Not sure if this is a bug, but any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

If PMS isn’t running on your Synology, there is no automatic detection over any network. Network file system shares do not support the notification mechanism and never have. They predate the notification service from the Linux kernel

DEBUG (not VERBOSE) Log files will be needed to see what names are not matching. Naming / Tagging and type of library used (Basic or Premium) all weigh heavily.

I am having the same issue with a similar setup; plex does not update new content saved on the Synology NAS even with a Manual refresh

So I wasn’t able to after manually refreshing either, but then I found that my Media Center, for some reason or another, if it has been restarted, my NAS drives have an “X” on them under “My Computer”, but when I double click them to open them, they open, and the “X” is gone, and it is fine unless my computer is restarted, which is rare, so I’m not too concerned. But after that, I was able to manually refresh without an issue.

And a tip, I ended up changing from automatic detection to a timed refresh (12 hours for me), but you could go as low as a few minutes, I think.
