PLEX not finding my tuner.

We are unable to reproduce this problem with the Windows update.

Did you install the Hauppauge software or just the drivers? Try removing the software if you did install it.

you need to delete whatever is in the db before trying to re-add your tuners in plex after the roll back
delete from media_provider_resources
you can also use this app, click the button at the bottom to delete your tuner information from plex

or just delete your plex db(warning this will delete all you have setup in plex)
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

fyi
the only thing i didnt try on build 1803 after the update was reinstalling my wintv quadhd tuner.

I delete all my libraries on PLEX. I deleted the Hauppauge software and updated the drivers. I used ChannelFixer_1_2 to remove all information about my tuner from PLEX. After removing the WinTV-HVR-2250 from my computer, I rebooted my computer and PLEX still does not find my tuner. I get the message, “There was a problem adding the device: Hauppauge WinTV-2250 (8891)”. I will buy a new tuner if you think my tuner is not compatible with PMS.

Can you provide a new full PMS log?

You mean the software? You didn’t remove the device, right?

I removed all the PLEX libraries as well as the the tuner software, shut down the computer to remove the tuner. Then I rebooted the computer, used ChannelFixer to remove all information about my tuner from PLEX, shut down the computer, reinstalled the Hauppauge WinTV-2250 tuner, and rebooted the computer. Perhaps I did not have to do all that but I wasn’t sure. Attached are the new PLEX Media Server and Database logs.

I’m seeing database corruption in your logs. Might be best to just erase everything and start over.

I was able to uninstall the Plex Media Server from the Control Panel. I deleted the ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.’ registry key in the registry. I tried to delete “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server,” but could not because ‘the folder is in use’. “The action can’t be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program”
I reinstalled the PLEX Media Server as well as the PLEX player. I added my libraries. HOWEVER, PLEX still cannot find my tuner. Very frustrating. I am attaching the PLEX Media Server logs.

Perhaps the problem is with my tuner. The WinTV-2250 tuner works fine with the Hauppauge software but not with PLEX. Could you recommend a new tuner that works well with PLEX?

uninstall Plex via the Control Panel in Windows.

Delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc. registry key.

Restart your computer <–try adding this step

Delete the following directory:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server

If you didn’t delete that folder, then your database from before gets reused so any issues caused by the database corruption will still be there. You need to find what is still open and close it. Windows Resource Manager might help. Or try restarting your computer as mentioned above.

I was able to delete most of the sub folders in the ‘local app data’ folder, one folder at a time. I was not able to delete the ‘cache’ folder. I then renamed the ‘Plex Media Server folder’ to ‘Plex Media Server_old’. Then I reinstalled the Plex Media Server and now PLEX recognizes my tuner! Thank you for all your help.

One thing I noticed. I am seeing duplicate movies on PLEX, even though there is one of each movie in the folder on my computer. This only happens for movie type folders. For instance, one ‘Midnight In Paris’, 2011 and one ‘MIDNIGHT_IN_PARIS’, 1 movie. Perhaps PLEX is reading old information from an incompletely deleted “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server” folder. I will be deleting the duplicate entries. I am attaching the new PLEX Media Server and Database logs for your review.

That is Collections you are seeing. You can control that behavior in the library settings.

Also if u can rename the folder but not delete it, you should probly run a check disk. Sounds like corrupt master file table.

I was having some difficulty deleting the ‘LOCALAPPDATA’ folder, but finally solved my problem by moving the PMS to a new computer and updating to version 1.13.2.5154. Everything is working perfectly. Thank you!
