1.20.2.3402 update wiped out my TV Tuners and now unable to find them

Updated Plex Media Server to 1.20.2.3402 last night and now my HAUPPAUGE WinTV-quadHD tuner is no longer setup. PMS says to set up a tuner and I’ve left it scanning for the last 30 minutes with no luck in finding my tuner.

Running Windows 10.

Any luck with the logs? I tried updating to the latest beta version 1.20.3.3421 with no luck. Same results.

I also tried downgrading to version 1.20.2.3343 and strangely I am still having the same issue. This is super frustrating and seems strange that nobody else is running into this issue.

I’m able to use the tuners with the WinTV software, so it doesn’t seem that there is an issue with the truner.

I see that you said the WinTV software is working. Did you remember to disable the HauppaugeTVService in the windows services before trying to use Plex DVR again. While it’s been a while (I gave up on Plex DVR in disgust), I recall that the WInTV service and Plex DVR interfered with one another.

You might also want to make sure that the tuner card’s drivers are still installed. I have heard of situations where the drivers get uninstalled when you uninstall the WinTV software.

I’ve actually always had the WinTV software and always had the WinTV tray service running, so not sure why that would suddenly cause an issue now. There haven’t been any updates for the WinTV software.

I did try killing all WinTV processes and it made no difference to Plex.

I’ve tripled checked that the tuner is functioning and drivers are working (obviously since I get a nice clear signal with WinTV). Device Manager shows the tuner is working fine and no driver issues.

I ended up finding a workaround for now. I’ve updated to 1.20.3.3437 and edited the Plex DB to manually remove the tuner entries in the “media_providers_resources” table, then deleted the EPG database files in the " %localappdata%\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases".

After I removed the entries, I started up PMS and it found my tuner immediately.

This is not a good workaround for the average person. I’m a web developer, so I’m fairly comfortable with SQL. What’s frustrating is that it appears this was reported as far back as September 11th, and there have been as many as 7?!? (beta) updates and at least 2 public updates in the past month and none of them appear to have addressed this issue. Not to mention the extreme lack of involvement from Plex staff. I’m very frustrated that you reached out over 11 days ago and you have yet to respond on either of these threads or my DM.
