Plex not finding new content after scan

Player Version#: 4.77.3

For about a week Plex has not found any new content.
Usually, it will automatically pick up any new files, both TV & Movies, however, it isn’t find anything even on a manual scan.
I think I updated about a week ago, so could be due to that.

I haven’t changed the process I use for adding content, I’ve double check permissions and all seem to be as they should be, as well as naming it’s all as it should be.
I tried DB optimisation as well as Cleaning Bundles.

I’ve also created a new Library, I pointed at some content that I know Plex has picked up in the past it failed to get anything.

Update on this.
For the newly created library, I tried changing the scanner from Plex TV Series to Plex Series Scanner and it started finding the content.
It wasn’t finding any metadata for it, but it did find the content.

Took a peek at your logs and could it be this …

… I wonder if its just not finished doing all its work. Maybe let the scan complete and leave the system alone for a while and see if it fully completes the metadata download over time. Some of your other logs have maintenance stuff going on so wonder if the system is just busy doing stuff …

Thanks for your quick response.
Unfortunately, it seems that it’s been happening all week. I usually add new content every day and it hasn’t picked anything up.
So, some content has definitely been on the server for a good few days.

Could you give an example of something that you added but didn’t show up?

Even better would be scan, refresh the metadata for that show and then attach a refresh set of logs with that example. Might help pin down what’s happening.

BTW… Switching the agent/scanner is a really really bad idea once a library has used the new modern scanner. The old legacy scanner is not compatible with the new one and can cause unknown problems when switched.

I peaked at the logs, and Im seeing old agent/new agent mixed together. ideally can you purge your logs, and create a capture of just the new agent?

Yes, I wouldn’t usually do that.
I created a second library with just a few TV shows added to see if it would find anything.

It was only on this library that I messed around with the scanner options to see if anything would change.

Check your logs for Killing Eve and I can see the scanner does is picking up the season 04 folder and that the directory has 5 which I guess is for the 5 episodes in that season.

Not sure why they are not appearing for you in the UI. Unless there is another suggestion I would suggest making sure the scanner and agent is set to the Plex TV Series, even if they are change the agent one to something else in the drop down and then set it again which will auto update the scanner one and save. Then stop plex, start it again do a scan and attach a new set of logs if the problem is still happening.

Well, I think you’ve only gone and bloomin’ done it!
Switching the agent, switching back and giving it a restart seems to have done the trick.

All the missing items showed up right away.
I am most grateful indeed.
