Plex not honoring directory structure; media "Unavailable"

Server Version#: 1.16.6.1592

I’m running Plex on a Synology NAS. Everything was functioning perfectly until I upgraded to 1554. At that point, all my video content was rendered “Unavailable”. Going directly through Synology shows the content perfectly accessible.

In an attempt to debug, I went to add a new library and discovered that Plex won’t let me navigate to content in nested directories. The structure I have is:

Volume1

  • ebooks
  • music
  • video
    ** movies
    ** television

In other words, my movie and television content is nested within the video subdirectory and Plex will NOT let me navigate to these. The deepest I can go is /volume1/video or equivalent for the other content. So…music and e-books? Hell yeah. Video? No way.

I’d gladly take any help you can offer. I’d love to roll back to something before 1554 but Synology wouldn’t let me.

Thanks.

  1. The Synology pre-created video share has a problem because of how they manage it when video station is installed.

  2. For most other cases, please read the below posted notice.
