Plex not indexing tv serie

Server Version#: plexinc/pms-docker**:1.25.6.5577**-c8bd13540
Player Version#: web, running in local network

I have added a tv-serie to my library: Cold Feet (1998). I have added the first two files as follows:

/Cold Feet (1998)/Season 0/Pilot - s0e1.mkv
/Cold Feet (1998)/Season 1/Episode 1 - s1e1.mkv

After scanning the library, these files do not appear in my library. What is going wrong? Is there a good way to debug this?

P.s. I already tried the Plex Dance.

  1. make sure that only the immediate “parent” folder of /Cold Feet (1998) has been added to the library. Never add a single TV show directly to a Plex library.
  2. Always use 2-digit numbers for season and episode numbers. Unless there are 4-digit seasons, or the number of episodes within a season is exceeding 99.
  3. make sure the hosts file does not contain any plex-related addresses
  4. in the episode file names, place the episode title after the SxxEyy code

Thanks for your reply.

  1. The “Cold Feet (1998)” folder is inside the library root folder (“Series”).
  2. I have now changed it to 2-digit numbers
  3. What is this hosts file you’re referring to?
  4. I have now changed this as well

So current file structure (both inside the parent “Series”):

/Cold Feet (1998)/Season 00/s00e01 - Pilot.mkv
/Cold Feet (1998)/Season 01/s01e01 - Episode 1.mkv

Still not working, but might be related to point 3 about the hosts. Maybe relevant information is that I had no issue with adding other series.

The hosts file is a relic from the earliest days of computer networks. Nevertheless it exists in every operating system. hosts (file) - Wikipedia

Switch your tv show library to “Episodes” view mode.
Then engage the “Duplicates” filter.
If there are any episodes listed, (and you know there should be not several versions) then take a look at the plex media info of these episodes.
Perhaps the show has been mismatched and merged into a different show.

It has appeared now, after clicking “Episodes” it appeared. Clicking back to “TV Shows”, it is still there.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the problem was solved by using the double digits in combination with perhaps some caching of my browser (delaying the view).

Thanks again Otto.

Probably from moving <title> S<season>E<episode> S<season>E<episode> <title>
